BRICK LANE ON SUNDAY

I love Brick Lane. It is a place that have so many different looks, different faces. It all depends on the day, the weather, the crowd. Some days are better than others, of course, but even on a bad day the lane is still full of colors and aromas to entrance and enchant. I find the Sundays there to be a bit to much for me, with the crowds and the noise, but people always look like they are having a hell of a lot of fun. And that is how it should be.

The Brick Lane Minaret

While in Switzerland the minaret controversy goes on, London again proves to be a very accommodating city when it comes to its immigrants cultural and religious practices. A good example is the minaret above, outside the Brick Lane Mosque(a former synagogue) built recently with the blessings and support of the local council, Tower Hamlets. You can see more and better pictures in here.

Anti-Fur Campaigners

Sunday I usually go to Brick Lane for a little walk and a salt-beef bagel, and as always the people above were standing opposite a vintage shop protesting against the fur industry. They are part of the Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade and if you are interested check their websites: http://www.caft.org.uk/, http://www.rabbitfur.org/ or caft@caft.org.uk.

Brick Lane.

It was freezing outside and I was having a lazy Sunday, so the best I managed was to have a little walk about the neighbourhood. And this is the photo I have for you, the famous Brick Lane, a place that has seen better days but still holds a certain old charm. If you are a tourist or new to London it is a must see.
