ST JOHN ON BETHNAL GREEN

I hope you won't think I'm a religious person. I only happen to like churches. Nothing to do with religion or God... I must say I find churches have some sort of calming effect on me and I find it quite enjoyable to stop for a few minutes and go inside a church if I'm in the middle of a stressful day. The one above is St John on Bethnal Green opposite Bethnal Green Tube Station on Cambridge Heath.

Flower Power

The weather is better. And of course people look happier. The Columbia Road Flower Market was crowded and colorful as always, the smell of coffee was in the air and there was music coming from the back of the market at Ezra Street. How very different from The Broadway Market yesterday. An almost perfect Sunday morning. Even the dogs seemed to be having a nice time.

Sunday Service

I pass by this little beauty almost everyday. The lovely St Peter with St Thomas Church Bethnal Green. St Peter's Parish church was joined by the parish of St Thomas in 1951. It is a real shame this pretty gem of a church appears to be always closed and is hiden behind the busy Hackney Road.
